For the contest we have chosen a complex 5-ramp interchange at the Grenadersky Bridge in St. Petersburg with numerous attractions in the area.
During field surveys we discovered several problems that push the road users to traffic violations.
In particular, there are no direct links for pedestrians, PT users and cyclists in the area – to cross a 20m-wide bridge they have to cover more than 500 meters. Our project was dedicated to solving this problem.
Through studying all traffic flows, our experts understood typical behavior of cyclists and pedestrians, and identified places and reasons they break the rules.
Our task was to connect the existing cycling and pedestrian infrastructure at the approaches into a single space and create a cross-functional interchange for all road users.
